Managed NFS (4.1) in the same region across AZ’s , security with SG, encryption KMS, can only be attached to one VPC, Linux Only, auto scalding size - petabyte size for 1000s of clients, pay=use

performance

• performance mode - enable at creation:
  • General purpose
  • MAX I/O = big data . media processing

• Throughput moed
  • bursting (1 TB = 50 - 100 Mb)
  • Provisioned - set regardless of size

Storage Classes

need to use “Lifecycle Management” - move after X days:

• Standard

• Infrequent access (lower price)

Avilability & Durabiliity

Default: multi AZ , can set One Zone for lower cost

Connectivity

EFS is created within a single VPC, can use peering for other VPC’s.

• Configure mount target in the VPC - use IP for mapping for the DC - need DX/VPN - enable DNS

• can set Access Points do define users and groups to access files in EFS - Use IAM policy

• can set File system policy to control access to the resource (like bucket policy)

• can set Cross region replication - good for DR (minutes RPO - RTO)
